Tat of our Time

Not Japanese and not particularly desirable but this ancient Time Boy is purest tat nevertheless. It was considered the coolest of covermounts at the time and did it’s fair share in shifting NMS when it was first launched. Didn’t know I still had one but found it lurking under a crateful of hoarded tat up in the attic.

Ahhhhh. The day I got my issue of NMS with the Time boy on the front will go down in history as one of the happiest days of my life.

I can still vividly recall picking it off the shelf in my local Safeway, hand trembling, and then carefully pacing over towards my parents in the hope they would allow me to buy the magazine. Thankfully they did, and the Time boy offered me many happy weeks of enjoyment - until I got board of carrying a watch around on my keys and decided having one on my wrist was a better idea. I have no idea where my Time boy is now; it probably got chucked out.

HOWEVER...

Mr Harrod - I thought you might like to know that I recently visited my parent's house and upon entering one of the spare rooms I was amazed to discover my old wardrobe - with glow in the dark Mean Machines stickers still attached!! I've got a photo on my phone that I will post online over the weekend. Sad, but true.

I remember those stickers. I still have the artwork for them in my binder somewhere. I might remake them and put them on the blog as a hi-res pdf. People can then download them and print them onto sticker paper and adorn various household items at the leisure!

I remember the humble timeboy keyring. It was ace, I loved it at the time.

I can't remember this was now but I was waiting for the missus in a shop this year and there was one of those vending machines which gives you an egg for 20p/50p with a toy in it.... you wouldn't believe it but the timeboy was one of the prizes on offer - in 2007!!!

I remember because I even pointed it out to my wife and said it could have at least been a Gameboy advance keyring or something, to which I got a confused look and we went about our business!! lol
