It's all GO! here…
During my tenure with NMS I was asked to help out on the other Emap tomes every now and then. One such stint was knocking out the mini-handheld magazine GO! which was a freebie with C&VG. Working with Paul Rand we belted out this portable abomination every month and, as well as the layout of the pages, I also drew these dinky robots for the review section. I don't have any copies of it mind but I did hang onto the artwork.

Ok, so I'm going to sound like a boring old fart here but is that done on Codatrace? Probably spelt wrongly but it was a sort of thick, high finish tracing paper/plastic normally used for drafting.
Remember using that stuff during the days I worked in the capital. Even remember bumping into you in Books Nippon once, Gary. Probably around '91-'92.
Ah, Books Nippon. A fine haunt and right on my doorstep when it was situated by St Pauls.
Now, not sure of the brand name but you are spot on with the description of the tracing paper. It was sturdy and ideal for technical work and a throwback to the stuff I used at college when I was drafting engines and the like. That and CS10 paper/board were my mainstays in them thar' days...
Go was a wee bit pointless, wasn't it? Never knew you did the robots though Gary. That's pretty cool.
Shame I used to rip Go out of CVG and chuck it in the bin, though.
