One of the first but not the final
Another very old image drawn right at the start of all things Mean Machines. Final Fight was a big arcade favorite of mine so it made it an ideal choice for this comic strip-tips combo. I did two pages but the second was wrecked when I attempted to colorize it and made a right pig's ear of things. What a monkey.

Not wanting to suggest your memory is failing Gaz me old chum, but the original black and white Final Fight illustration was printed in CVG. The coloured version appeared in Mean Machines a few months later.

You're probably right. Heck, this image was drawn over 18 years ago dude! Certain parts of my brain have rusted right over since then…
Heh, sorry, didn't mean to come across as a pedant. I just loved that Final Fight artwork, which is why I remember so vividly when it appeared. :)
Shame no magazines have dedicated, hand-drawn artwork like that these days. Wil Overton is pretty much the only guy still doing this kind of thing, and even then it's only once in a blue moon for Retro Gamer.
